Virginia War Memorial & Richmond Civil War Museum
After strolling through downtown Richmond on our Family Vac, we proceeded to the Virginia War Memorial, which was truly impressive. They did a remarkable job honouring the Virginia soldiers who had participated in wars since the Second World War. The names were etched into the outer glass walls of the War Memorial, and the eternal flame was situated at one end of the hallway.
Upon entering the main building, we were greeted by a delightful hostess, Caroline, who was fantastic. She provided a brief history of the place before we began our tour. It's a must-see and very well-executed if you haven't visited yet.
Located just down the road was the Richmond Civil War Museum, a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The museum was excellently curated, and the rifle-loading reenactment was fascinating. It offered a well-organized layout with plenty of informative displays. The admission fee was quite affordable, so bring your reading glasses and wear comfortable walking shoes.
